8. 유의사항

      - 수상작의 출판권과 저작권은 서울특별시에 있습니다.

      - 반환기한(추후 통보)내 반환하지 않는 작품은 서울특별시에 귀속됩니다.

      - 응모자 1인이 3점 이내에 작품을 응모할 수 있습니다.

      - 공동 응모작의 경우 3인 이내로 제한합니다.

    - 출품물의 반출기간 미반출물의 분실, 파손 등에 대해 주관기관은 책임지지 않음.

∙ 심사에 출품한 작품설명서는 반환하지 않는 것을 원칙으로 함

∙ 전시 행사작품 : 전시회 종료 다음날 18시까지임

∙ 미반출물의 분실, 파손 등에 대해 주관기관은 책임지지 않음

      - 심사결과에 따라 수상 해당자가 없을 수 있습니다.

2008 beautiful bench competition

the seoul metropolitan government is pleased to announce the "2008 public bench and chair design contest" with a view to creating beautiful benches and chairs in public spaces as befits a metropolis and enhancing the citys urban design competitiveness. the metropolitan government achieved success in a similar program in 2007.

1. eligibility : anybody who loves seoul(including foreigners)

2. category of design: benches or chairs

3. schedule:

  - deadline for submissions: may 13, 2008, tuesday 6:00pm (korea time)

  - by mail : the entry must arrive at the public design office

                            by tuesday 6:00pm on may 13, 2008.

    (if they want to submit their applications in person, applicants should visit

      the organizer during working hours) 

    - tentative schedule for the announcement of prize winners:  may  20,  2008

    (on the seoul metropolitan governments website or design seouls website)

    - awards ceremony: in late may (tentative) (individual winners will be informed

      separately)

4. design guidelines

    - environment-friendly benches or chairs that can provide urban dwellers with moments of comfortable rest

      - benches or chairs should be fit for public spaces under the theme "design is air"

              1) riverside parks along the han river, 2) roadsides, 3) plazas, 4) open spaces, 5) neighborhood parks, 6) large parks, 7) promenades, 8) childrens playgrounds, 9) lakeside parks, 10) other public places

              ※ applicants can also choose their preferred places, such as mt. nam or design seoul street, for designing benches or chairs.

      - benches or chairs that can be manufactured and distributed to contribute to realizing the vision of design seoul

      - future-oriented benches or chairs that can be moved easily and stand in harmony with music and sunrays, as well as are compatible with various materials.

5. what should be submitted when applying

      ① an application form (you can download an application form from

            the abovementioned websites)

          ∙ if you create more than one artwork, you should submit each artwork with a

separate application form.

      ② each application should be submitted along with a presentation panel (one a0 size board, along with a 5t form board)

          ∙ there are no length or width limitations

    ※ only foreign residents can submit their presentation files on a0 size boards.

    ③ data files (on cd-r)

6. how to apply

      - applicants can have discretion about the type of art panels they use. under any circumstances, they should print in the following information on the art panels:

      - their preferred public locations for benches or chairs in seoul

      - their preferred identification of characters of public design,

such as:

          ∙ safety, functionality, and material adaptability

          ∙ combination & balance with surrounding environments

          ∙ style & colour

      - data files should be stored on cd-r according to the following instructions:

          ∙ data files should carry the applicants presentation board

          ∙ the data should be stored in jpeg (jpg) files of the 300dpi resolution with 9933×14043 pixels

          ∙ a caption (less than three a4 sheets)

          ※ under no circumstances should applicants indicate any

                  marks on the art panels that show who the designers are.

                  the designers name plate should be attached to his or her bench or chair.

        - how to apply

          ∙ send your application (one application form, one presentation board,and one cd-r) to the following address by registered mail or door-to-door delivery service. in this case, applicants will bear mail charges. or applicants can visit the organizers office in person to submit their applications.

          ∙ each artwork should be packed separately. applications will be accepted by the application closing date.
